For the past three nights I’ve been watching 25 minute segments of Bridget Jones’ Diary (2001) like a limited series on the HBO (now known simply as MAX) and the her whole situation with Daniel Cleaver (of Hugh Grant infamy) reminds me of a situation in real life that happened to me a while back which was similar but mostly actually different in every way. I love how art and life can connect. Anyways, in TV and movies, people who are abjectly humiliated always get their comeuppance. In real life, you have to continue saying things like “I’m clawing my way out of my flop era” while your friends make jokes about your career being on life support that you have to be a good sport about.
I’m currently really committed to a pattern right now where I eat out like a bunch times a week and then meal prep for like Thursday-Monday. And then go to my parents’ house to eat dinner sometimes for the low, low cost of new and creative demonstrations of psychic damage from my mother (among which, some favorites recently have been “you’re getting to the age where you should start worrying about religion” and “you look pretty… like the last bright flash of light before your youth burns out permanently”). And they say Millennials can’t meal plan! (Just kidding I am a Zillennial… please don’t take that much from me).
My lemon-lime prayer plant has really been thriving which is crazy because I’ve been neglecting it pretty consistently. Once again I find myself looking to my houseplants for hopeful metaphor. On I shall go in determined march. The holidays are coming up soon. I’m fancying myself a Shepherd Pie Maker for friendsgiving. I like winter holidays because no one accuses you of being an old man at the airport for clamoring for ginger ale at the function. I want a new wardrobe but can’t afford one. Anyways, here’s some stuff I’ve been listening to.
